I'm a Junkie (Intro)

I'm a youth ministry junkie.

It fascinates me when I think of the cultural phenomenon that youth ministry has turned into over the last 20 years, especially in conjunction with this generation of teenagers. Ever since I got saved as a teenager, I've been intrigued by the concept of student ministry in general. The fact that churches budget thousands (or some hundreds of thousands) of dollars to put on free-to-cheap events so that teens will come and hear the Gospel is pretty astounding. And pretty awesome.

Because of this, youth pastors (like myself) go all out. Some of the things we do work really well at reaching teens. And a lot of the things we do are just...kind of weird. Since youth ministry is the 'cutting edge' ministry of the church (except for maybe singles' ministry...hey-yo!), we tend to be the ones going out on limbs most often.

This blog exists because youth ministry is awesome and it leads to some of the oddest concepts, events, people, and stories you'll find in the church.

Boomsickle.
